This is a multi-unit housing proposal in the Mar Vista Tract in Los Angeles, California. The concept of this project is to create an altered effect on the structure by either projecting or retracting the dwelling units, ultimately providing more privacy for each bedroom and balcony. The buildings are staggered in their overall massing shapes also by the orientation of each one on the site. This language is replicated throughout the block with planters and community garden that are intersected by intricate pathways of circulation that change direction based on the intended destination. This community includes a tennis court, splash pad, daycare, and grocery store right within the lot of apartment buildings. The purpose is to allow for a tight-knit neighborhood that offers daily necessities within walking distance despite the large city it coincides in.
