This project proposal is for the development and expansion of the original Mar Vista House on Lot F2, in order to create The California Commune. I split the original floor plan in half and built further into the yard, using a patio to divide the ground floor plan into three units, two mirrored kitchen and living rooms with all three units leading to a conjoined second floor with a suite for a single adult, bedrooms for four children and two couples, and a playroom. The purpose of this home is to house nine people comfortably, preferably three family types who are close friends and have chosen to live in such a community. The precedent studies for this project included the Villa Dall’Ava in Paris, France, and The Case Study House #8 Eames House in Los Angeles, California.
